About Franklin County, Maine

Live, Work, and Play

Franklin County, a county nestled into the Western region of the state, reaches from the Canadian border at Coburn Gore to the foothills of Jay alongside the Androscoggin River. With just under 30,000 residents and 1,743 square miles of land, there’s plenty of room for everyone.

We’re far away enough from the hustle and bustle of Maine’s cities to be much more relaxed and connected to nature, yet close enough to take advantage of the amenities and excitement of those cities when we need to. It’s approximately a one hour drive to Augusta or Auburn, two hours to Bangor or Portland, and four hours to Boston.

Our slower paced quality of life, tight-knit communities, lower cost of living, and four-season recreation is what makes Franklin County a prime option for remote work, starting a business, raising a family, or making a life here. Every one of our defined seasons bring new opportunities.
